The focus of the technology validation is to quantify and reduce uncertainty in the performance and applicability of the systems, thereby reducing risk and leading to greater confidence in the performance of these systems
PuPu Pump
Is a groundbreaking innovation tailored for those hard-to-reach areas where traditional exhausters cannot operate.
Service providers in Kisumu and Nakuru have expressed satisfaction with the pump's performance and its positive impact on their livelihood.
Opero is now commercializing this pump in East Africa.
Fecal Sludge Treatment Unit
Over the past year, Opero has collaborated closely with Sistema.bio, Veolia Foundation and ETH4D on an ambitious project, to develop and test a fecal sludge treatment unit at KIWASCO waste treatment site in Kisumu.
Green Latrine
A Global Sanitation Hackathon Winner.
Our vetiver latrine (installed in Busia) replaces the need to have a pit, by using the Vetiver grass potential to remediate wastewater, allowing for safe disposal and treatment of your waste.
The toilet is affordable and has low operating costs making it suitable for use in rural Western Kenya.
Anaerobic Digesters
In 2020 we worked with Sistema.bio to design, install and monitor a modular anaerobic digester for human waste treatment and energy generation for cooking of meals in schools.
Our pilot installation in Nairobi served the school population of 2,000+ students and reduced the cost of firewood used by the school for cooking. You can now buy this system via Mobile Alert Toilets.
